Dansstationen is looking for an artistic director for Sweden’s largest independent dance venue. We are looking for someone who is inquisitive, structured and unafraid, while also being well-versed in cultural policy. About Dansstationen
Dansstationen is the hub for contemporary dance (freelance sector) in Skåne, where performing arts, audiences and a diversity of voices come together. We present dance for all ages, run Salto! and carry out various initiatives for young choreographers and dancers. We collaborate with other venues and organisations nationally and internationally. Dansstationen is a member of Svensk Scenkonst and follows collective agreements. Other benefits are regulated in collective agreements between Svensk Scenkonst and Fackförbundet Scen & Film.
Your role
As artistic director, you are the driving force behind the implementation of Dansstationen’s artistic vision. Your role includes:
- Designing and realising Dansstationen’s artistic vision and programme.
- Being responsible for programme planning and, together with colleagues, leading and developing the organisation’s artistic dialogue internally and externally.
- Participating in long-term strategic planning together with the board.
- Representing Dansstationen nationally and internationally in relevant networks, industry forums and public contexts.
- Curate and shape artistic collaborations and promote new choreographic voices and perspectives.
- Promote inclusive and diversity-oriented audience development in collaboration with other staff.
- Be responsible for the budget, applications and reports to donors, as well as dialogue with them.
Qualifications
We are looking for someone who has:
- Documented experience of artistic management, project management, curatorial work or equivalent within dance or related performing arts fields.
- A strong ability to formulate and drive artistic visions in combination with organisational understanding.
- Experience of managing teams and personnel (including responsibility for the working environment).
- Experience of budget management and financial responsibility.
- Experience of building and maintaining national and international professional networks.
- Strategic, structured and solution-oriented approach to work.
- Good ability to communicate in Swedish and English, both spoken and written. Additional languages are also welcome.
- Good communication and teaching skills, as well as experience of working with multiple stakeholder groups.
About the position
The position is limited to 5 years with the possibility of extension.
Start date: 1 August 2026.
The position is based in Malmö.
Salary: Monthly salary according to agreement.
