Daniel Mariblanca is the founder of 71BODIES, a transgender-inclusive dance and performance company based in Bergen, Norway, established in 2016. 71BODIES focuses on creating artistic expressions through personal stories and experiences of people who exist outside mainstream society. With each production, new ways of expressing beauty are created.

Daniel Mariblanca was born in Barcelona, Spain, and began his professional dance career immediately after graduating from L’Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. After 17 years of dancing professionally around Europe, Daniel moved to Norway to join Carte Blanche, The Norwegian National Company of Contemporary Dance. After seven years with CB, Daniel has taken on full-time responsibility as artistic director of 71BODIES. To date, Daniel has received two nominations for the Pernilleprisen Audience Award for 71BODIES 1DANCE by 71BODIES (2018) and Time With You Is Precious w/ Carte Blanche (2020). He has also received the Artist of the Year award from Bergen Municipality (2018), received BT’s Critics’ Award in the Pernille Awards for the entire production of In First Person by 71BODIES, and was nominated for Best Director and awarded the first HEDDA Award in the dance and performance category for the production, In First Person 2020-2022. Most recently, he was nominated for Best Male Dancer at the Catalanian Butaca Awards in 2024.
