In the award-winning performance Tschandala/Tattaren, Lindy Larsson, backed by the acclaimed orchestra Bon Bon Band, offers a personal theatre concert based on her origins. He gives a voice to the traveling people and highlights a blind spot in our Swedish history that resonates with our time. The performance tackles large and complex issues of exclusion and abuse, but also of survival, healing and liberation. It is a musical manifestation, high-tension Romani music without safety nets and an urgent measure to preserve an endangered minority, the traveling people. It is a revision of Swedish history and a punky showdown with Strindberg and the short novel “Tschandala”.
Actor and singer Lindy Larsson moves frequently between genres both in Sweden and internationally and is a member of the ensemble at the Maxim Gorki Theater in Berlin. He has been awarded several times for his efforts on stage and for the performance Tschandala/Tattaren. He has been awarded the Theatre Critics’ Prize, the Stockholm City Honorary Award for Performing Arts and the Katarina Taikon Prize. The performance was also selected for the Performing Arts Biennale 2023 and has toured Germany, Austria and Hungary.
